Ramdev's Yogawear Line to Compete with Adidas, Nike
BANGALORE: After Nestle’s re-launch with its instant noodles Maggi, Ramdev's Patanjali has come forward to challenge the strength of elite global sportswear giants Adidas and Nike with his yogawear. The spiritual guru is ready to bring out his own range of health drinks which includes Powervita to take on Bournvita and Horlicks, beauty products and babycare alongside an oil-free variant of noodles belonging to the Patanjali brand.
Ramdev said "Our yogawear Vastram will be made of khadi. MNCs have always misled consumers in India. We want to take them on with our products that come with the goodness of Ayurveda and are priced affordably. We will be an Rs 5,000-crore company this year. We have grown by over 150 percent over last year,"
Ramdev’s in the path of success seem to be selling his products with a low price tag and is also using traditional practices of production namely Ayurveda. Indicating that a known brand of honey you cost Rs 122 for a 250gm bottle, however Ramdev stated that Patanjali honey will be priced at Rs 70 for the for a 250gm bottle. atta noodles at Rs 15 will be in comparison compared to similar products
The atta noodles are priced at Rs 15 compared to similar products from other brands that come for Rs 25. Ramdev cited "We will set up five plants in Delhi NCR, Maharashtra, MP, UP and Karnataka to manufacture our products."
Arvind Singhal, retail expert and founder of Technopak, claimed that Patanjali products have reached phenomenal success in households around the country. "Look at how the company has grown. ITC's FMCG business is around Rs 5,000 crore. Patanjali has disrupted the FMCG space with simple products that promise the goodness of tradition," he said.
