PhonePe Reveals it's Made in India SmartSpeaker

PhonePe has made known the launch of its next-gen SmartSpeaker, an improved variant intended to meet the changing business requirements of merchants. Developed over the core of the first SmartSpeaker, this new device offers a Made in India assurance. While still carrying over the popular functionalities of the first one, it offers a number of key advancements.

Yuvraj Singh Shekhawat, Chief Business Officer of Merchant Business at PhonePe, commented on the launch, saying, “We are thrilled to unveil our next-generation SmartSpeakers, which are manufactured locally in India. This local production allows us to adapt our products more flexibly to meet the specific needs and preferences of our merchants. Through these SmartSpeakers, we hope to bring financial inclusion to merchants in the nation, especially to those in untapped regions, and support domestic innovation as well as ensure Indian makers have an important role to play in the country's digital revolution.

PhonePe initially introduced its SmartSpeaker in 2022, offering offline merchants a hassle-free and dependable payment solution that offers voice notifications. The SmartSpeaker comes in 21 language versions and boasts a celebrity voice option with leading Indian actors. Real-time audio confirmation of successful payments minimizes merchants' dependency on SMS or app notifications, enabling them to focus on their business without constantly looking at their phones for payment confirmation.

The new "Made in India" SmartSpeaker has all the popular features of the earlier version but with significant enhancements in connectivity and power efficiency. It uses a 4G network to provide faster speed and better network stability. The new version is charged to its full capacity within about 75 minutes and has a battery life of more than seven days in standby mode. Further, it offers high-quality audio definition even in an environment with many background noises and has a space-saving design making it possible for merchants to have it in even the most crowded counter spaces.
