MDI Labs to Upgrade 25 Hospital Laboratories Across India



Bangalore: Medizinisch Diagnostiche Institute Berlin, the largest clinical laboratory in Germany through its arm, MDI Laboratories India, plans to upgrade around 25 hospital laboratories across the country and set up over 1,000 collection centres and a logistics network to transport samples to these hospital laboratories. MDI Laboratories has also made its maiden India entry by upgrading its laboratory at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai by installing world-class automated machines and web-based software, a company statement said. MDI Laboratories, which represents the Medizinisch Diagnostiche Institute of Germany, one of the largest clinical laboratories located in Berlin, Germany with the workload of around a million tests in a year, has provided orthoclinical diagnostics vitros 5,600 integrated system offering micro-slide, micro-tip, micro-well, intellicheck and micro sensor technologies at the Nanavati Hospital laboratory. The German parent strongly believes that in this global scenario, India ranks as one of the best markets vis-?-vis the healthcare industry and it is possible that more multinationals may enter India in this particular area of operation. MDI Laboratories would also provide international standards of services and processes adopted for its operations, added to which is the fact that the Indian laboratory's doctors and technicians were getting special training in Germany, the release said. The laboratory at Nanavati Hospital will now offer many new tests as also tests, which are not available in India by sending samples to the laboratory in Germany and all this at affordable prices, it said.
