Madhya Pradesh Tourism Inks MoU with MakeMyTrip and redBus
MakeMyTrip has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Tourism, Madhya Pradesh, along with redBus, in an effort to boost tourism in the central Indian state. The collaboration aims to promote sustainable tourism development and position Madhya Pradesh as a premier tourist destination. The MOU focuses on the promotion of homestays in the state, aiming to increase rural and urban incomes while providing sustainable alternative income sources and fostering low-carbon tourism.
MakeMyTrip plans to conduct both offline and online training sessions for existing and upcoming homestay operators to enhance their understanding of effective property promotion and management. The company will also work closely with the tourism department to intensify the promotion of pilgrimage and wildlife-led travel experiences available in Madhya Pradesh through its platform.
redBus, under this partnership, will be recognized as the official 'Online Bus Ticketing Partner' by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. The collaboration is expected to enhance travel experiences by road, contributing to a more in-depth discovery of the state's hidden gems and unique experiences.
Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, expressed the state's commitment to showcasing its diverse offerings, encompassing wildlife reserves, cultural sites, and religious landmarks. The collaboration with MakeMyTrip and redBus is seen as a means to tap into innovative approaches and avenues to support tourism goals in a conscious, sustainable, and equitable manner.
Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, highlighted Madhya Pradesh's prominent position in India's tourism landscape. The collaboration aims to enhance visibility for tourist destinations in the state, leveraging the platform's strengths, including the growing homestays segment, spiritual tourism, and wildlife tourism.
