Jaguar Land Rover Defender Enters Indian Market

Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover has launched its iconic SUV Defender in India ahead of the festival season. The SUV Defender price range would begin at 73.98 lakh. The latest versioned model would be introduced with a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine and also comes in two body styles in the country. Further, the rate of new defender 90(three-door) is estimated to start from 73.98 lakh and the Defender 110 (five-door) is priced to be 79.94 lakh onwards.

Commenting on the launch of SUV Defender, Rohit Suri, President and Managing Director, JLR India says, “So far, under Land Rover, we had the Discovery product pillar and Range Rover product pillar available in India. With this launch, the third product pillar, Defender, is now available. This, in many ways, completes the Land Rover brand story.”

Although, the deliveries of the Defender 110 have already been initiated, while the Defender 90 would begin from the first quarter of FY22.

Rohit further stated that the new Defender is expected to gain a wider market in India, especially this would attract the people interested in authentic adventures, travel, and the ones who love to explore all new things in their life. He continued saying, that such individuals transcend barriers of age, gender, profession, with their free-spirited nature and fearlessness, just like the new Defender.

The company assures that the newly launched Defender would be sold through the brand’s 27 dealerships across India. Thus, the customers would have access to choose from 170 individual accessories and four distinct accessory packs.

Moreover, the Defender would possess an impressive maximum approach angle of 38 degrees and the capacity of water wading through a depth of 900 mm would be ideal for off-roading. The Defender also provides a maximum towing capacity of 3,720 kg in addition to 168 kg of roof load capacity.

Besides, the new model brings along next-generation electronic vehicle architecture that supports SOTA (Software-Over-The-Air). Furthermore, it enables customers to receive updates without visiting the retailer. Most importantly, the infotainment in the model includes a 25.4 cm touchscreen with navigation features.
