Gulf Oil & Piaggio India Extend Strategic Partnership Until 2030
Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited (Gulf Oil) and Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (Piaggio India), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group, have further extended their exclusive strategic partnership through 2030. The renewed alliance would continue to concentrate efforts towards co-branded lubricants for Piaggio's range of commercial vehicles in India and some export markets.
The deal was signed by Ravi Chawla, Managing Director and CEO of Gulf Oil, with Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director of Piaggio India. The partnership between the two companies has already begun in 2020 and was used to jointly develop specialized lubricants for Piaggio vehicles, including BS VI and electric vehicles. The exclusive products shall enhance the performance and extend the life of Piaggio's vehicles.
He stated that it is in line with the strategy of Gulf Oil, which has specialized lubricants for different segments of vehicles. "There is huge growth potential in India's commercial vehicles market due to the development going on in the infrastructure, and Gulf Oil will continue to expand its portfolio in both conventional and electric vehicle segments.".
Under the renewed partnership, Gulf Oil will continue to be the exclusive lubricant partner for Piaggio India in factory fills, workshops, and retail requirements. These will include advanced oils for BS VI vehicles and new fluids tailored for electric vehicles, serving the ever-growing customer base of Piaggio.
Diego Graffi expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing its role in delivering high-quality products that enhance vehicle performance. He also noted Gulf Oil's focus on the electric vehicle fluid segment, which aligns with Piaggio’s increasing focus on electric mobility within the commercial three-wheeler and lightweight EV sectors.
This collaboration has combined the expertise of Gulf Oil in lubricant technology with the expertise of Piaggio India in the leadership of the commercial vehicle market, driving innovation across conventional as well as electric vehicle segments.
