Grofers Proffer 10 min Grocery Delivery in 10 Cities

Grofers, an e-grocery start-up has amped up its services by assuring 10-minute delivery of groceries and other essentials across 10 cities in India. This up gradation comes after a fresh $100-million fundraise from food delivery firm Zomato with which Grofers is likely to hit $1billion valuation.

In a blogpost, Albinder Dindsa, CEO, Grofers states that the average delivery times are still hovering around the 15-minute mark, however the target is set to deliver below 10 minutes for every customer in India. “As we sign up more partners and keep building out our network, we are confident we will be under 10 minutes for the majority of the customers within the next 45 days,” he adds.

Presently, the e-grocery segment constitutes four percent of the $55-billion e-commerce industry. The entry of Tata Group with a majority acquisition of Big Basket as well as the launch of JioMart by Reliance last year has consolidated the $2-billion industry.

Grofers is an online grocery delivery service in India. The startup has witnessed a sharp pitch in its popularity in the past year as several Indian states enforced strict lockdown restrictions to contain the spread of the covid. The startup competes with BigBasket that recently sold its majority stake to Indian conglomerate Tata Group. The Indian online grocery market has witnessed a new player emerge in the past one year, Reliance Industries, India’s most valuable company.
