In a major drive towards India's digital revolution, Google opened its new campus, 'Ananta', in Bengaluru. The building is one of Google's biggest offices worldwide and is intended to be a center for innovation, technology creation, and collaboration.
Shining light on India as a strategic nerve hub within the international tech environment, Google focused on the creation of digital products for both the world and India. "India has long been a particularly special opportunity, not only to bring millions of users inside the country onto our products and platforms, but to have them designed by Indian innovation," noted Anand Rangarajan, Vice President, Google DeepMind.
Situated in one of the globe's most rapidly growing tech corridors, Ananta is defined as one of Google's most aggressive ground-up constructions. The campus was constructed with the help of local development and design partners, incorporating innovative workplace design principles. Sunil Rao, Vice President of Global Delivery, Google Cloud India, stated that the title 'Ananta' meaning 'infinite' or 'limitless' in Sanskrit represents Google's aspiration for innovation without borders.
The new campus boasts India's largest electro-chromic glass installation, along with a fluid, sculpted facade that raises its architectural stature. Ananta will be central to the delivery of world-class products, strengthened partnerships, and solving complex technological problems in India and globally, Google says.
The announcement follows Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in Paris last week. Pichai emphasized the 'incredible opportunities' AI will bring to India and discussed avenues for closer collaboration between Google and the country’s digital initiatives.
"Happy to meet PM Narendra Modi today during my visit to Paris for the AI Action Summit. We spoke about the tremendous potential AI has to offer India and how we can collaborate closely on India's digital future," Pichai wrote on X.
With Ananta, Google wants to reinforce its presence in India and play a role in shaping the technology of the future on a global level.
