In a major fillip to the 'Make in India' drive, Ennoconn, a subsidiary of Foxconn, will make a foray into India focusing on industrial automation and digitalisation. The Taiwan-based company has incorporated a business entity in Tamil Nadu with a view to launching advanced products in the domestic market.
Foxconn, the parent company of Ennoconn, already has an Apple iPhone manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur with 40,000 employees. Ennoconn Corporation, a world leader in industrial IoT, embedded technology, and integrated cloud management services, plans to serve high-growth industries like Smart City, Smart Manufacturing, Smart Retail, Financial Services, and Media & Entertainment.
"We provide digital transformation solutions on all internal design, manufacturing, and supply chain platforms and disciplines", the company said. Ennoconn's Industrial Metaverse transformation will lead to the creation of new cloud-based AIoT products, services, and solutions.
The Indian market already has major players such as Siemens, Advantech, and Rockwell Automation. Ennoconn's entry will increase competition and speed up innovation in industrial automation.
The growth of the company is in line with the Indian government's efforts to increase domestic production via the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. Budgetary provisions for priority sectors have witnessed huge increases for 2025-26, with electronics and IT hardware going up from Rs 5,777 crore to Rs 9,000 crore, and automobiles and auto components from Rs 346.87 crore to Rs 2,818.85 crore.
As of August 2024, PLI scheme investments have touched Rs 1.46 lakh crore, with estimates crossing Rs 2 lakh crore by 2025. These investments have increased production and sales to Rs 12.50 lakh crore, creating approximately 9.5 lakh jobs, with expectations to hit 12 lakh in the near future.
Ennoconn's entry into India will go a long way in supporting this growth, further establishing the nation as a global manufacturing hub.
