Founder of TWO AI Pranav Mistry Wish India to Focus on Next-Gen AI Models

Pranav Mistry, the founder of TWO AI, which develops SUTRA AI models and counts Reliance Jio among its investors, believes that India should focus on future advancements in AI rather than merely trying to keep pace with Western developments in large language models. He emphasizes that the next significant evolution in AI will involve quantitative and world models that can analyze structured data such as transactions, weather patterns, traffic, and visual information. According to him, this is where AI can truly make a difference, moving beyond simple chatbot applications.

TWO AI has previously secured $20 million in funding from Reliance Jio and South Korea's Naver Corp, and is currently seeking an additional $35 million to $50 million. The company has an annual recurring revenue of $10 million and anticipates achieving profitability by 2026. Mistry stated, "Our vision aligns with Jio's goal of developing AI tailored for India. Jio recognizes that global models may not be suitable for an India-first approach. We collaborate closely with their leadership not just for business purposes, but to help shape the future of AI in the country."

He clarified that TWO AI does not intend to compete with Western companies like OpenAI or Eastern firms like Krutrim and Sarvam. "We are not focused on becoming a model company. From the outset, TWO AI has not aimed to rival OpenAI or Mistral. Our business model is not about selling models at a low cost per token. Instead, we provide secure, scalable solutions that enterprises can implement effectively," Mistry explained in a recent interview.
