Companies that Hatched Surprisingly

Avon

During the beginning days in 1886, the founder of the company Avon went door to door, selling books. As a marketing technique to attract more buyers, the ‘company’ started offering little gifts of perfumes along with the books. This idea put forward by the founder of the company, David H McConnel, was especially aimed at women buyers. Later like any other businessman, he figured out that perfume selling was his business and started focusing on it. Thus the company California Perfume Company was born, which became Avon in 1939. Later the same master mind found that the women he met everyday, were struggling to make ends meet. He hired those women too as salespeople to expand his business. As the business got bigger he started including more products and now it is a big name in the cosmetics industry.

Wrigley

Like Avon, the chewing gum company got started with a popular gift offer. William Wrigley started a company in 1891 that sold soap and baking powder. He offered chewing gum to his customers as a compliment. Later a period came when the customers did not care about the baking powder, what they wanted was the chewing gum. Today, Wrigley makes millions of its customers smile.
