Capita Names Manpreet Singh as its CTO, First ExCo Member Outside the UK
Capita, a professional services group names India-based Manpreet Singh as its Chief Technology Officer. Manpreet would be directly reporting to Chief Executive Officer Jon Lewis, and a member of the company’s 15-strong Executive Committee. In his new role, Manpreet Singh would be responsible for the company’s digital, technology as well as software capabilities.
In a milestone for the company, Manpreet is Capita’s first ever Executive Committee member to be based outside the United Kingdom since its establishment in 1984. The firm today has a workforce close to 55,000 professionals, out of which 7,000 are based in India.
Based in Pune, Manpreet brings over 25 years of solid experience in managing technology-led organisations and delivering digital transformation. Presently, he is serving as the Managing Director of the firm’s IT Services business. However, prior to this, he had held a number of other technology leadership positions. Before joining Capita in 2010, he spent close to eight years at technology company Vertex, working in India, the UK, and as Chief Information Officer for North America.
Welcoming Manpreet, Jon Lewis states, “I’m delighted to be appointing Manpreet to Chief Technology Officer, a role to which he is perfectly suited, following more than a decade at Capita in a series of senior IT management positions.”
Manpreet’s major task would be to lead the launch of a new company-wide technology shared service division. Currently, the form’s technology capabilities are spread around each of the firm’s six divisions that include Customer Management; Government Services; People Solutions; Software; Specialist Services; and Technology Solutions – however they are centralised into one unit.
The company’s internal reshuffle would be according to Jon Lewis, “enable Capita to further simplify and strengthen its IT organisation” through the sharing of resources, reduction of third-party spend and, most importantly, build superior products and services for our clients.”
The bundling of technology capabilities is part of a wider transformation announced in March to reduce from six divisions down to three, “in order to build a more focused, client-centric, streamlined organisation,” says Jon.
“It is vital that our technology transformation mirrors the wider transformation that Capita is undergoing and we are delighted to have someone of Manpreet’s calibre to lead it,” Jon concluds.
Other members of Capita’s Executive Committee are: Ismail Amla, Gordon Boyd, Chris Baker, Claire Chapman, Mark Cook, Garry Dryburgh, Aimie Chapple, Chantal Free, Rupert Green, Katja Hall, Will Serle, Andy Start and Jim Vincent.
