Canadian Companies Expanded Indias Business Opportunities after Successful Four-Day Trade Mission

Opportunities  New Brunswick, based in Canada, is a Crown corporation to the provincial government and the lead economic development agency for the province. It seeks to attract and support opportunities to stimulate economic growth and create jobs by providing support services for businesses. A delegation of Canadian companies from New Brunswick has recently concluded a successful four-day trade mission to India, resulting in new partnerships and expanded business opportunities. Organized by Opportunities New Brunswick (ONB), the province's primary economic development agency, the mission aimed to strengthen trade relations between New Brunswick and India.

Traci Simmons, CEO of ONB, expressed enthusiasm about the visit, stating, “This was a very successful visit, and the companies that participated are thrilled with the developments. India is a country constantly progressing towards greater prosperity, and we believe that our two nations stand to benefit greatly from closer business and trade relations.”

One notable achievement during the mission was Teledyne Caris, a Canadian software company specializing in marine mapping, signing an agreement with Gurugram-based SPRY Technocon Pvt. Ltd. to serve as their new distributors in India. Andy Hoggarth, Vice President of Teledyne Geospatial, highlighted the vibrant growth in India and the tremendous opportunities for collaboration in the geospatial and marine sectors.

The delegation engaged in various business-to-business meetings, sector-focused discussions, and networking events, involving executives from diverse sectors such as infrastructure, natural cosmetics, legal, education, entertainment, and technology. Angele Miller, Founder and CEO of Inca Glow, noted the promising opportunities in the natural cosmetics sector, emphasizing the alignment of India’s demand for sustainable products with her company’s values.

The trade mission included key figures such as Ryan Donaghy, Deputy Minister for Early Education and Childhood Education, and Melanie Clark, Managing Director of Major Accounts and Development at ONB. The visit underscores New Brunswick’s commitment to fostering international business partnerships and enhancing its presence in the rapidly growing Indian market.

Bilateral trade between Canada and India has reached an all-time high of US$8.4 billion, with over 600 Canadian companies operating in India across various sectors. The successful trade mission is expected to pave the way for future collaborations and deeper economic ties between the two nations.
