Ashok Leyland Ensures Order For 552 Buses From Tamil Nadu
Ashok Leyland, the leading enterprise of the Hinduja Group, revealed the acquisition of an order for 552 Ultra-Low Entry (ULE) buses from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for use in public transportation. This marks a continuation of the enduring partnership between the company and the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, which currently boasts a fleet of over 1,800 operational buses.
Shenu Agarwal, the Managing Director & CEO of Ashok Leyland, expressed, "As we work towards addressing the growing demands for public mobility in our nation, our profound insights into markets and customer requirements continue to be the fundamental aspect that sets us apart. The company specified that the delivery of these buses will initiate in the coming months and is financially supported by the German Development Bank.
The company reported that the recently introduced ULE buses come equipped with features including an H-series 6-cylinder 4-valve 184 kW engine, a rear engine configuration, front disc brake, step-less entry, an intelligent transportation system featuring CCTV, electronically controlled front and rear air suspension, vehicle tracking, and destination boards reflecting the vehicle's location.
