Amazon Partners with Indian Startup to Empower Women Entrepreneurs and Boost E-Commerce Growth
Amazon India partners with Startup India to enable women-led startups, enhance learning programs and mentorship, and promote BHASKAR, the first-of-its-kind startup registry in India.
Amazon India has collaborated with Startup India, under the aegis of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), to empower Indian startups to take their business to scale through the power of e-commerce. DPIIT-registered startups will be granted access to Amazon's extensive network of India's 100% serviceable pincodes through a dedicated landing page on the Startup India website. This page will on board start-ups as sellers on Amazon, provide the opportunity and incentives and send that to the registration page. This will give them access to the domestic market, along with mentorship by Amazon's leadership, go-to-market support, and logistics guidance.
Amazon India and Startup India have shortlisted a few women entrepreneurs for empowerment in e-commerce under the initiative of Amazon Saheli. This co-op will deliver an impactful learning program to fuel the e-commerce journeys of India's women-led small and medium businesses. Participants receive access to Amazon's vast suite of services, including Amazon Pay, Amazon Incentives, Amazon Business, Amazon Transport, AWS, Amazon Advertising, and Mini TV, with which it will enable them to have all the tools necessary to successfully sustain themselves in this new e-commerce landscape. The programme will also consist of industry expert sessions and continuous engagement with Amazon Saheli stakeholders. Businesses will get visibility support across the Amazon marketplace and its social media assets.
In addition, Amazon will engage with DPIIT to sensitize people about Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR). BHASKAR is India's first startup registry that centralizes, streamlines, and amplifies collaboration between key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem-comprises startups, investors, mentors, service enablers, and government bodies.
This much-needed comprehensive partnership also strengthens mentorship, where Startup India will curate masterclasses with Amazon leaders guiding DPIIT-registered startups in their process of building capacities and upskilling. Support for the upskilling and reskilling of startups in marketing, supply chain management, fund raising, technology, and procurement will help improve business strategies and promote sustainable growth.
"By bringing together Amazon's e-commerce expertise with Startup India's role as the flagship initiative of the Government of India for the development of the startup ecosystem, we'll be well positioned to provide a robust platform for Indian startups and businesses to scale domestically, while further cementing the role of the sector in the country's growth story. The collaboration between Startup India and Amazon India is a testament to our commitment towards empowering Indian entrepreneurs across sectors and regions to drive economic development in the country through entrepreneurship and innovation, adds Singh.
It inspires everyone with sheer will power and the determination for building businesses across various sectors in India. With such an approach, by using the power of e-commerce, it has escalated new heights and catered to customers all across various parts of the country through innovative products.
It has been investing in supporting India's vibrant startup ecosystem with a host of interventions. Since its very inception, Amazon has provided programs designed to give dedicated support to emerging Indian brands and startups to reach customers around the world using e-commerce exports.
One such program has become reputable enough in helping brands and startups thrive in a competitive market: Amazon Launchpad. Currently, the program features more than 200,000 unique products by over 700 emerging brands under 30+ categories. The program is specifically designed to give emerging brands a single opportunity to connect with new customers and scale; it solves the marketing, sales, and distribution problems that most emerging brands face. Launchpad supports these young companies with the global expertise of Amazon so they focus more on product innovation and sell unique products to customers all around the world.
