AM Green Partners with DP World
AM Green, with Co-founders Anil Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli of Greenko, has teamed up with world-leading global logistics enterprise DP World to create a solid green hydrogen supply chain. The alliance will work to create cutting-edge logistics and storage infrastructure in the country and around the world, thereby paving the way for exporting derivatives of green hydrogen such as green ammonia and green methanol.
Exporting 1 million tonnes annually for green ammonia and green methanol will speed the transition toward a low-carbon world economy. Such key initiatives comprise developing port infrastructure in the AM Green's net-zero industrial clusters for the creation of exports and bunkering infrastructures for green ammonia and methanol in Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia.
"AM Green and DP World will establish terminal infrastructure in the European Union, UAE, and other regions, providing a zero-carbon supply chain to support global decarbonization efforts", said a source familiar with the partnership.
AM Green aims to produce 5 million tonnes of green ammonia per annum by 2030, equivalent to 1 MTPA of green hydrogen. The company utilizes renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green ammonia, green hydrogen, chemicals, and biofuels.
The Kakinada project on the eastern coast of India is the next big step for AM Green. The Rs 12,500 crore undertaking, announced in August 2024, would have a unit generating green hydrogen, which it would convert into green ammonia at an old urea plant acquired at the beginning of 2024. Production would begin in late 2026, with most output going to European markets under contracts with companies like Uniper, Yara, and Keppel.
AM Green has also forged partnerships with major international players. Germany-based BASF signed an agreement in October 2024 to evaluate opportunities in low-carbon chemicals, committing to purchase 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.
This DP World partnership fits in with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims for an annual production capacity of 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen. The mission emphasizes India's desire to be a global hub for green hydrogen exports.
This partnership reflects AM Green's commitment to scaling sustainable energy solutions and supporting global decarbonization efforts. "The partnership with DP World will enable us to create a seamless green hydrogen supply chain, supporting the world's energy transition", said Anil Chalamalasetty, Co-founder of AM Green.
With a vision to revolutionize the green hydrogen sector, AM Green continues to spearhead innovative projects that align with India's climate goals and contribute to a sustainable future.
