After Taxi and Auto, Ola to launch Shuttle Bus Services

BENGALURU: Ola, the Taxi App is all set to expand its portfolio by launching its new shuttle bus service with an aim to expand its user base and boost revenue even further. The company is all set to emerge as a complete urban transport solutions provider, according to ET.

Ola is expected to roll out its bus service in the next two months by integrating its bus app into its existing mobile apps. This latest move suggests that Ola wants to dominate the online transport market as the commuters will have the option to choose between different modes of transport like cab, autos and buses. Ola will use the available tourist buses for its services and will not own them.

In order to book a seat for travelling via an Ola bus, commuters will have to enter the desired destination and time preference, following which the app will indicate the closest bus with available seating and its timing. Sundeep Sahni, the vice-president for new initiatives who joined Ola this month will be responsible for the rollout of the Ola bus service. Ola’s entry into bus service now makes sense as over 70 million people use this service everyday in India.

The most important transport system in India besides the railways is the bus services which connect every nook and corner of the country. Ola has also entered into new categories which are ordering online food with 20 minutes being the expected delivery time given by the company. Ola, which is already present in 88 cities, is also planning to expand its service base in order to up its game with other competitors.
