Adani Gas' subsidiary, Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility, has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MG Motor India to enhance electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in India. The collaboration aims to install CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships, providing a comprehensive solution covering supply, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of the charging infrastructure.
The partnership will explore integrating public charging stations across platforms using advanced application programming interfaces (APIs) to enhance network visibility and accessibility. Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic partnership, highlighting its significance in catalyzing EV adoption and revolutionizing India's EV landscape.
Suresh P Mangalani, ED & CEO of Adani TotalEnergies Gas Limited (ATGL), emphasized the milestone achieved through the partnership, underscoring its role in accelerating India's energy transition and contributing to carbon emission reduction and environmental sustainability.
This collaboration comes at a crucial juncture for MG Motor India, which received a significant boost in 2023 when JSW Group, led by Sajjan Jindal, acquired nearly 33% stake in the company. Despite a 23% year-on-year decline in retail sales, totaling 4,648 units in March 2024, MG Motor India reported a 14% year-on-year growth in sales for FY 2023-24 compared to FY 2022-23.
The joint endeavor between Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility and MG Motor India underscores a shared commitment to advancing sustainable mobility and building a robust EV charging infrastructure. It reflects the growing momentum towards electric mobility in India and signals a concerted effort to drive the country's transition towards cleaner and greener transportation alternatives.
