Acer and Plumage Spark IT Manufacturing Growth in Puducherry

• Acer and Plumage Solutions set up new IT hardware manufacturing unit in Puducherry.
• Facility aims to produce 300,000 laptops annually and create skilled jobs.
• Part of Acer India’s push to grow local manufacturing under ‘Make in India’ mission.

Acer India, a leading technology brand, has joined hands with Plumage Solutions to launch a new manufacturing facility in Puducherry. This move is part of Acer’s localisation roadmap to increase domestic production of IT hardware and reduce dependence on imports.

The new facility, established under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for IT Hardware, will focus on producing laptops, computer monitors, all in one desktops, servers, workstations, and power adapters. With an annual production capacity of 300,000 laptops, the unit is expected to create high-skill jobs and boost the local economy.

Harish Kohli, President and Managing Director of Acer India, said, “India is not just a key market for Acer, it’s a strategic pillar for our future growth. With this new manufacturing facility in Puducherry, we are proud to take another step toward supporting the Government of India’s vision of self-reliance in electronics”.

The investment by Plumage Group is estimated at Rs 50 crore over the next three to four years, helping expand Acer’s production capabilities and improve supply chain efficiency. This will enable Acer to offer competitive pricing and faster delivery to customers in urban and emerging markets.
