A Survey Proclaims Samsung Topping the List of India's Most Trusted Brands

BENGALURU: A recent survey conducted by TRA (Trust Research Advisory) reports the fact that Samsung stays ahead among the pack of most trusted brands in India; followed by LG and Sony, the South Korean company’s products grabbing the top spot as it is preferred by most of the people across the country. The survey was conducted across 16 cities, among 2,500 respondents aged between 21 to 50. Among India's 1000 most trusted brands, 267 categories were enlisted. Represented by 152 brands, Food & Beverage category yields the maximum brands, while FMCG was represented by 128 brands, personal accessories by 52 brands and automobile by 72 brands.

TRA issues such reports on an annual basis and ‘The Brand Trust Report, India Study 2016’ features as the title of the survey. According to the study, the top five most trusted brands are Samsung Mobiles, Sony, LG, Nokia and Tata. It also states that Tata Group is the only Indian firm managing to capture its place in the Top Five.

“Samsung’s strategy of focusing on the core intangibles of its brand is evident from its climb to the leadership,” said N Chandramouli, Chief Executive Officer, TRA.

Getting into the history of trust rankings, LG topped last year’s report, while Samsung Mobiles was ranked second. However, Sony elevated one step up from last year’s third position. Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer moved up to the 11th position from 16th last year, whereas the popular two-wheeler company Hero MotoCorp climbed up to 14th. Ranking of the Tata Group slipped from last year’s fourth to the fifth position this year.

Reliance experienced a major setback in this year’s survey, making a leap from last year’s 14th to 22nd. Few other brands which have improved their rankings over last year include Samsung Mobiles, Sony, Nokia, Honda, ICICI BankBSE, Pepsi, HDFC Bank, Lux, AirtelBSE, Dove and Puma. Apple, Bajaj, Tata and LG are the trusted brands which stepped down in terms of rankings. As per the report, brands which have been ruled out of the Top 20 list are Amul, Hewlett Packard, Bata, Reliance, Philips, LIC and Dabur.

“Samsung Mobiles is India’s most trusted brand of 2016 as a result of its constant efforts in bringing consumer value through conscious pricing, great quality and exquisite designs,” added Chandramouli. Companies are constantly improving their products and services to gain trust.

Focusing on the FMCG food sector, Chandramouli mentioned that Cavinkare has evolved as the most trusted brand followed by Nirma. He also stated that Patanjali moved to the fourth position and Maggi claims the 65th position, gaining 42 ranks from last year and leading the Trust ranks.
