Top 15 Cars Sold In India

Bangalore: Though the whole range of sedans under different brands always glitter in the Indian market, most of the Indians, especially commoners, who aspire to own a car—a family car—always  mainly go for comfort, mileage, price and also looks, before  they buy one.

Yahoo has come up with the list of top 15 best-selling cars in India; these cars are ranked by the figures of their monthly sales in August 2012. The list is dominated by cars manufactured by the Japanese automaker Maruti Suzuki.

#1 Maruti Alto

The crown of being the largest selling car in Indian market, wore by the Maruti 800 once, is now worn by Maruti Alto, since it is one of those popular people-movers the ordinary middle-class car buyers of the country opt to buy. And this time too, Alto comes at the top of the list with sales of 10,488 units in August 2012. Though Alto tops the line, total number of sales of the car has declined from a previous figure of 17,422 units.

The king of the Indian automotive segment, the older 800cc Alto was followed by a newer, classier and more powerful version, the K10 in August 2010. The Alto and K10 combined together sold around 25,300 units as per May 2011.

The original Alto also comes with a company fitted CNG option, aimed at increasing its appeal; and the Alto K10 version already have lovable looks.
