Sensex Gains 73 Pts on Low-Level Buying

Mumbai:The BSE benchmark Sensex recovered by over 73 points in early trade, snapping a three-session losing streak, on fresh buying by funds and retailers at attractive lower levels. The 30-share barometer, which had lost over 645 points in the past three sessions, recovered by 73.11 points, or 0.42%, to 17,346.48 with metal, realty and capital goods sector stocks leading the recovery. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty, moved up by 13.95 points, or 0.26 percent, to 5,271.35 points. Brokers said emergence of buying by funds and retail investors at prevailing lower levels helped Sensex to trade in the positive zone. Also, covering-up of short positions by speculators in some counters supported the recovery, they added. Meanwhile, in Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was being quoted 0.79 percent lower in early trade on Tuesday.
