Sandip Patel Steps into IBM as the Managing Director of India & South Asia

The Global technology major, IBM appoints Sandip Patel as its managing director of India and South Asia (ISA) operations. He succeeds Karan Bajwa, who recently stepped down from IBM India's managing director role. Karan was responsible for IBM's mid-market business and enabled the client's digital transformation and journey to the cloud. He was associated with IBM for five years and led the company based in Singapore. 

In his new role, Sandip would be responsible for all strategic and operational matters that are related to IBM's sales, marketing, services and delivery operations in the regions that include Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Besides, he would also work on enabling India's capabilities across IBM's global missions, global centre of excellence, research and innovation labs.

Prior to this, Sandip was based in Boston, Massachusetts and held the position of IBM's Global General Manager for the Insurance Industry and held the responsibility for the company's business across all brands in this market segment. Sandip's expertise in key industries that include financial services, insurance and healthcare, along with his global leadership experience would add great value to IBM's clients and business in the region.

Previously, Sandip was associated with Aetna International and served as its President. There he held complete P&L responsibility for the company's international business. Alongside, he served as a partner in various leadership roles at IBM, PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Coopers & Lybrand. In the initial days of his career, Sandip has also practised as Chartered Accountant in India.
