BANGALORE: Getting along the road for unending trips or simple day to day commuting, cars have become the best mode of travelling. So if you love to travel and love to get onto wheels, there is great news awaiting you. The self-drive car rental market is beefing up drastically, and JustRide has perfectly timed the launch of its new product “Ubiq”, for corporates and individual commuters that allow them to hire a car for just Rs 4,000 a week, from Monday to Friday, reports Bharat A Patel for The Times of India.
Be it On-demand service or self-drive, car rental space has been advancing consistently in the nation. In on-demand auto rental space, no other player has possessed the capacity to break the business sector of Ola and Uber. There is very little doubt that the self-drive auto rental space is seeing a blast with various players making inroads into this business sector.
Besides, the rural market in the country is still under-penetrated for automobile companies. According to the data available at How India Lives, there are just 37,85,355 four wheelers in the rural India as compared to 76,88,232 units in the urban areas. A company like Maruti makes 31 per cent of its sales in the rural market. JustRide officials say this new weekly rental service aims to increase carpooling at the corporate level, discourage individuals from buying cars as well as reduce pollution and traffic jams. In another initiative to help drivers who cannot afford to own cars, any driver with a valid driving license can pick a car from JustRide and drive under the Uber or Ola platform.
The company, which started in August 2015, has over 125 cars with over 60,000 customers who have signed up. They also have plans to augment their fleet in the near future. Speaking to Bangalore Mirror, executive director, operations, of JustRide, Bharath P Nathan says, "Unlike other players, our team is very thin with very high tech knowledge. Our prime business model is self-drive. Other than this our CEO Ashwarya Prathap Singh has come up with a unique product called 'Ubiq'."
