Infosys Plans To Acquire Simplus

The Indian IT giant Infosys is planning to acquire US-based Salesforce partner Simplus for $250M by the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020.

FREMONT, CA: The IT giant, Infosys, is planning to purchase a sales force consulting company with offices across the US and Australia Simplus. They are ready to pay up to $250 million for the deal. It is expected that acquisition is likely to be concluded by the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020.

Chief Operating Officer, Infosys, Pravin Rao, says that the acquisition confirms their continuous endeavor to empower their strategy of scaling the Agile Digital and cloud-first digital transformation capabilities.

The purchase will bring back Infosys the globally recognized sales department expertise, industry knowledge, solution assets, deep ecosystem relationships and a broad clientele across industries including financial services, high-tech, retail, life sciences, healthcare, and manufacturing. The acquisition would also help Infosys expand its offices, as Simplus has offices across North America, Sydney, Melbourne, London, and a large delivery center in Manila.

As per the regulatory filing, the cost of acquisition is "$200 million including contingent consideration to be paid for the acquisition of shares subject to closing adjustments". Also, employee incentives and retention payments are amounting up to USD 50 million on meeting certain performance conditions over three years.

Institutional investors, founders, and key employees, owned the company with Salesforce Ventures having a minority stake in Simplus. For the fiscal year ending January, 2020, the revenue of the company stood at $67.1 million.

CEO and co-founder of Simplus, Ryan Westwood says that they have viewed the partnership from a culture-first lens from the beginning, and they also believe that the alignment of their company values and the preservation of the company DNA will allow them to accelerate growth.
