Indian Women Feel That They Are Not Taken Seriously In Business

Bangalore: A large number of women who are running their own business ventures in India feel that they are not considered as businesswomen in the society, states a study by Greyhound Sculpt, a consumer research firm, reports Economic Times.

The research was conducted across different cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad. The study took 1000 women entrepreneurs among which 50 percent of the women said that they are totally happy of having their own business as it provides them with a sense of freedom.

However, many women stated they were not happy and were not taken seriously in the country, rest of them said that they were not fortunate enough to have family support.

Greyhound Sculpt research firm said "This re-enforces that family approval (especially elders and husbands) play a decisive role for women in business matters."

The respondents went on to confront that, there are certain industries like automobile and real estate where it has become impossible for them to enter.

According to the study, there were 20 percent of women who confronted that they started their business just to follow their passion and use their creativity rightly. However, another 20 percent of women replied that they did so for the better standard of living.

Women entrepreneurs who owned beauty salons and housewives who delivered homemade food for office goers were among the few who started the business for the creative satisfaction and passion for the job.

Greyhound Knowledge Group Founder and Group CEO Sanchit Vir Gogia said, "Women entrepreneurs are a brave new breed and soon, with technology, finances and other business support on their side, may be a significant sector of enterprise."

He also added that "Despite business styles that may be different from their male counterparts, their business skills are just as sharp."
