Bangalore: Telecom Sector is an emerging market in India and has witnessed a dramatic swing of fortunes in the recent years. In contrast to the earlier times when telephone connection is considered as an icon of luxury; the industry has transformed in such a way that even the low income people can afford a handset now. India stands second to China in total number of telephone connections with an estimate of nearly 900 million users across the country.

The launch of National Telecom Policy 2012 has brought forth promise of policy stability for the sector, as reported in IANS “The implementation of the National Telecom Policy of 2012 is a positive step. But its immediate impact will be limited," said Mahesh Uppal, director of a telecom consultancy firm, Com First. But the controversies and recent legal allegations on allotment of airwaves and award of spectrum licenses are hindering the augmentation of Indian telecom sector.
