India Among 10 Largest Coffee Consuming Countries


Bangalore: That first sip of coffee in the morning to start a day is what majority of people relish, be it in India or worldwide. Coffee- a brewed beverage prepared from the roasted coffee seeds, is one of the most favourite drinks among all age groups. Due to the increasing coffee consumption in India, it is also supporting world coffee prices, but according to market analysts, there is a decrease in bean exports from the country as domestic demand arises.  Growth in coffee market for subcontinent’s is almost 9 percent this year but when it comes to India the growth is around 1.4 percent of global demand, according to market-research firm Euromonitor International. Thus the total growth when calculated for over five years it would be almost 80 percent.

"The size of the Indian economy and the rate of growth of the cafe sector, combined with rising spending power and shift in consumer preferences present a tremendous opportunity for us," says Avani Saglani Davda, chief executive of Tata Starbucks, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
