How Social Entrepreneurs are Transforming India
India's steadily growing businesses demand innovation in almost every aspect, thus the emerging social entrepreneurs are serving as the agent who bridges the gap by addressing the businesses' innovative demands. Previously, entrepreneurs used to pile up their profit in the private sector, and in the later part of their life they would turn as a philanthropist, but the new age entrepreneurs choose to work on the social issue through their businesses which in turn fetches goodwill to the company. These social entrepreneurs have given rise to a hybrid business model which is an amalgamation of nonprofit organizations and businesses that deal with social issues as well as generate profit for the stakeholders.
A study has unveiled that social entrepreneurs associated with the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs have offered nearly $6.7 billion in loans or value of products and services. This move of social entrepreneurs has transformed the lives of over 62 million people across 190 countries. Also, it is to be noted that India tops the list of these social entrepreneurs' presence. The $6.7 billion loans obtained from the community have been utilized to improve the livelihood of people by providing access to improved healthcare, clean energy solutions, and educational assistance. They have supported 226 million kids to get access to quality education. Alongside these social entrepreneurs have also aided in cutting down close to 192 million tonnes of CO2, and about 100 million people have got access to energy resources and 25 million people were driven towards social inclusion.
Hilde Schwab, Co-founder & Chairperson of the Foundation told a media, "This report challenges the notion that models of social innovation can be dismissed as small, isolated islands of success amidst our overwhelming global challenges," she further adds, "Consider the combined capability of all social innovators in the world, those recognized in networks like the Schwab Foundation, and the hundreds of thousands that exist in local communities around the world."
How Social Entrepreneurs Bring in Change
These social entrepreneurs usually tend to envision a change in society, as most of them have personally undergone very turmoil challenges or at least witnessed people around them undergoing such problems. Facing such a situation is even observing them has given a chance for these people to think out of the box and eventually become a social entrepreneur which demands innovation. 
Alongside innovation, social entrepreneurs are also required to work on continuous upgrading as well as assessing their skills would ensure the success of social entrepreneurship. These social entrepreneurs have been striving hard to develop a growth-oriented environment that would enable young minds to work on their dream projects. 
Social Entrepreneurship in India
Most of the social entrepreneurs address the huge gap that exists between the country's government policies and the social reality this mostly pertains to the country's casteism and social discrimination. Thus, these social entrepreneurs create organizations that aid in substituting the action to counter the various social hindrance across the country. 
A program for Young Social Entrepreneurs had been organized by the Singapore International Foundation's about 109 youths from 19 countries participated in this virtual program that was held from July 3rd to August 29. About four teams represented India that include Built Empathy, Canfem, International Changemaker Olympiad, Shoonya Environment Solution these were headed by Bhavya Singh, Akriti Gupta, Rahul Adhikari & P Sai Sindhu, Manik Dhingra respectively. 
However, each team has different propose from one another like Built Empathy is working on improving the Indian cities and working towards a sustainable environment. While Canfem as the name indicates they are working to enhance the lives of the breast cancer survivors, it has supported more than 3,200 patients and has reported a 93 percent satisfaction rate. 
On the other hand, International Changemaker Olympiad is inclined towards providing a stable platform for school children and is into transforming kids into empathetic, conscious citizens of the country with an action-oriented mindset. While Shoonya Environmental Solutions focus on zero waste human settlement. They are involved in the scientific disposal of non-recyclable plastics that are spread across 20 states throughout India. They are envisioning an economically sustainable environment. 
Similar to the above organizations, several other social entrepreneurs are striving very hard to bring in the much-needed transformation in the country. With their support, we could certainly envision a better society in the future.
