BENGALURU: Where do you think the ultra rich invest? Property, clothes, or jewelry? Let us find out the consumption and investment patterns of the ultra-rich according to Kotak Wealth Management’s Top of the Pyramid 2014 report.

It would be convenient to understand the consumption patterns of the rich according to their High Net worth Household Incomes (HNI) ranges. A household with a minimum net worth of 25 crore per annum falls under the category of HNI.

The report compiled by Kotak says that 54 percent of the ultra-rich are from the 4 Major Metros. Also, the number has grown by 24 percent over a period of four years. But, what are their favorite sectors to invest in? Here we go:

Where do they spend their money?

The report shows that the HNIs spend the highest percentage of their discretionary wealth on jewelry, apparels and accessories. This highlights that they are the fashonistas in the society, and they are the ones who set the trend. It is surprising to find that their priority investment is in jewelry rather than real estate. The other priorities are electronic gadgets, house décor, holidays along with philanthropy.
