On 20 February 2014, Facebook announced that it would buy fast-growing mobile-messaging startup WhatsApp for $19 billion in cash and stock in a landmark deal. Facebook is already leading in the social media network and after the acquisition of WhatsApp, its plans extended to rule the hearts in mobile communication too.

Facebook closed its acquisition of mobile messaging service WhatsApp recently, with the final price tag raising an additional $3 billion to roughly $22 billion because of the increased value of Facebook's stock in recent months.

#2 America Online Acquires Time Warner- $186.2 Billion:

The deal between American Online and Time Warner is the biggest acquisition in the history of business. While Time Warner was the global leader in Entertainment Media sector, American Online was the internet leader.

The acquisition in 2001 was supposed to create innovation and grand success with two big companies working as one; but sadly, the acquisition didn’t work out in a successful manner as expected by Aol. and Time Warner. In 2009, both the companies decided to split up and work individually.
