25 States with Highest and Lowest Petrol Prices in India


Bangalore: Petrol is an essential part of our day-to-day life, and we can’t picture our days without it. All of you know that petrol prices have been sky rocketing, and it eventually will be affecting each and everything that we use in our day to day life. Within last three years petrol price has amplified 10 times and are still mounting. Petrol hike directly or indirectly affects all the major sectors like transportation, textiles, auto, FMCG etc, for manufacturing & transportation. This affects the prices of daily essential commodities which are transported on a daily basis and banking sector is also expected to suffer due to high inflation level. Petrol prices also vary from one state to another, keeping that in mind here are the Indian states with highest to lowest petrol prices listed by Rediff.

1. Kolkata, West Bengal
Petrol Price: 75.84/ltr

After the petrol price hike last year, Mamata Banerjeehits, CM, West Bengal hit the streets to protest petrol price hike. The CM stated, “It is unjust, unilateral and not right. We cannot support a decision which will put a huge additional burden on the common man. It is unacceptable”, reported PTI.

2. Pune, Maharashtra
Petrol Price: 75.49/ltr

Political leaders took to the streets to protest against rise in petrol price. They proposed a reduction in octroi on petrol when it came up for approval before the general body meeting.

3. Jalandhar, Punjab
Petrol price: 75.45/ltr

As soon as the petrol price hike came into effect, Punjab tax officials were instructed to take into account the stock left with each outlet and accordingly plan to charge VAT on the unsold stock on the basis of hiked rates.

4. Bengaluru, Karnataka
Petrol Price: 75.26/ltr

In May 2012 when the petrol price hiked in Bangalore, Karnataka, the Bharatiya Janata Party flayed the steep hike of 7.5 per litre in petrol price terming it as “unreasonable” which will make the life of the common man “miserable”.
