2014 Was Not A Smoothe Ride For These Companies

Flipkart:

Flipkart is one such company which earned the faith of the customers purely from its efforts and efficient services. This quickly grown homegrown company capped another year of successful story, but stumped when its ambitious Big Billion Day Flash sale went for a toss due to some mismanagement. And frankly the company was not prepared for such immense response from the users. And the result was drastic for the young entrepreneurs as they faced allegations from all sections including the government. The sale ended up in making Flipkart’s dear customers furious as they felt ‘cheated’ in the name of a steal sale. The process gave way for offline retailers to accuse Flipkart for running predatory pricing strategies. Online customer clan is still skeptical over placing orders with Flipkart due to the uncertainty in the service.

SpiceJet:

A slew of price slashes in the beginning of the year only resulted in acute financial crisis for the Kalanithi Maran backed SpiceJet. Mounting debt and proceeding years of loss only added to the crisis which edged SpiceJet off the runway for a while. The intention behind airlines sales was to increase the operations and keep SpiceJet going for a while and increase the cash flow. But the going got bad for SpiceJet when other airlines launched the same scheme which resulted in decreasing sales. It got worse when this failed attempt was followed by financial crisis, delayed staff salaries, non-payment of taxes, and cancellation of flights which meant internal glitches within the firm. SpiceJet hopes for a better year ahead in 2015 to rescue the firm.
