12 Greatest Entrepreneurs in the World

Bangalore: There are certain entrepreneurs who have created a mark for themselves on the economy and the world. Fortune Magazine has come up with a list of 12 such entrepreneurs of this generation who have really made it big. There are a few names that are very obvious to be included on the list like Steve Jobs, the man behind Apple, the priciest company in the world and Mark Zuckerberg, who changed the face of social networking with Facebook.

What came as a surprise was an Indian on the list. Narayan Murthy, the man behind Infosys, which today is the largest company in India. Another surprising factor is that there are no women on the list, though they have garnered more power in business.   Listed below are the greatest entrepreneurs of the world. Have a look.

Narayana Murthy

Narayan Murthy during his journey on a train from France to India, he hit up a conversation with one of the passengers "about the travails of living in an Iron Curtain country." He said, "We were interrupted by some policemen who, I later gathered, were summoned by a young man who thought we were criticizing the Communist government of Bulgaria." Murthy was pulled out of the train and thrown in a small room without food or water for 72 hours, then left back on another departing train and released in Istanbul. This treatment instigated Murthy to have an even more firm belief he had for the left. This eventually made him one of India's and the world's most successful capitalists. If he was to be a reformer, he realized, it would have to be through a system that was rejected by the Communists.

He demonstrated that India could battle with the world by taking on the software development work that had long been the region of the West. Being one of six co-founders of Infosys and the CEO for 21 years, Murthy lend a hand to glimmer the outsourcing revolution that has brought billions of dollars in wealth into the Indian economy and altered his country into the world's back office.  Today Infosys employs around 145,088 people and the company’s market value is $32 billion.
