Godrej said that CII is working on an agenda for making India a moderately developed nation by 2022. Indian industries have done well on energy efficiency and energy intensity which reduced almost 20 percent between 1996 and 2007. He says, “Other areas, where we have done significantly well are Green Buildings” as over 1650 registered green building projects have amounted to over 1.16 billion square feet of green building footprint.

He adds, “This initiative of the CII has put India on the global map. India has the second highest green building footprint in the world next to U.S.A.” about urbanization he said that almost 30 percent of India lives in urban areas which is expected to increase more to 50 percent in the next 30 years. The amalgamation of city planning with close proximity between offices and residential place is important. The CII has also developed a rating system that helps to assess how the green companies were and also cited areas in which working included green power and created a green fund.
