5. Lego
Lego means ‘play well’ in Danish. It has its roots, related to Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter from Denmark. In 1932, Ole started making wooden toys and by 1934, he named his company as ‘Lego’.
By 1947, Lego started making plastic toys instead of wooden toys and in 1949, it came up with one of the unique toys in the history; interlocking bricks. From then onwards, Lego bricks became one of the favourite toys for the children as they were very much innovative and were friendly too.
Unfortunately, the roaring business of Lego toys started suffering loss by 2003. Almost 35 percent of Lego’s business went away and the company was bearing rocks.
Well, the then CEO of Lego, Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, brought in some new ideas and implemented them. The new ideas went very much favorable for the sinking company and once again, it started getting the attention of the kids. After obtaining the franchises of ‘Star Wars’, ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’, Lego regained its status as one of the most favourite toys in the market.
