Earlier Armand Hammer was the CEO of Occidental Petroleum; Ray Irani worked under him from 1984 as a director and a chief serving officer. Hammer noticed Irani’s exceptional performance and in 1990 he chose him as the CEO of the company and named him as his successor.

Ray Irani has served the company for 20 years and is currently the Chairman of Occidental Petroleum which is an oil and gas production company based in California. From the year 2001 to 2005 his income was $460 million.
