 Infosys Forms New Committee Focusing on ESG; Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw to Head the Board

Tech giant, Infosys has formed an Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) committee of its board, with Members of Infosys’ ESG committee that include Uri Levine and Chitra Nayak, independent directors on the company’s board. Furthermore, Mazumdar-Shaw would serve as the head independent director.

Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson and Managing Director, Biocon states, “We are pleased to institute this new committee of our board focused on accelerating the integration of ESG factors into everything that we do as a business. This initiative will help us nurture a well-governed model to realise the many aspirations on our ESG roadmap.”

In a statement, it is been revealed that the newly formed ESG Committee would periodically meet and guide the board in discharging its oversight responsibility on matters related to organisation-wide ESG initiatives, leading ESG practices and priorities.

However, the company has reiterated its continued emphasis on furthering environment, social and governance causes, by revealing its ESG Vision 2030 in 2020. Thus, the company’s long-standing commitments that is focused across core areas such as  technology for good, climate change, ethics and transparency, energizing local communities,  diversity and inclusion, data privacy, and information management.

Last year as well, Infosys has turned carbon neutral 30 years ahead of 2050, hence, the timeline set by the Paris Climate Agreement, states the company.
