Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth is known at the national level for its unique identity for realization of the ideals for imparting national education and igniting patriotic sentiments amongst the youths during the pre-independence era. The Vidyapeeth had the required structure right from its inception with all its constituents, namely, the Board of Management, the Academic Council, Planning and Monitoring Board, Faculties, Finance Committee etc. along with the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar as executive heads.
Distance Education :-
Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth entered in to the field of Distance Education in 1985 with the establishment of Faculty of Distance Education (FDE ) with its institutional aim of promoting national education and nationalism, faith in democracy and sense of civic responsibilities, through the curriculam of different Programmes, and with its faculty objective of reaching the unreached, the deprived section of our society. B.A. (Visharad) Social Sciences was the only Programme on offer till 2000.
Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth was aware of the network and system of Distance Education in India and the world around, it was in the year 1991, when FDE appeared in the Directory of Distance Education in India, published by Association of Indian University (AIU) and Commonwealth of Learning (COL), FDE became part and parcel of this network. FDE Started interacting with other Open and Distance learning Institutions in India, which gave it an impetus for its development.
Campus :-
Situated in the heart of the city, the Vidyapeeth is spread over 4 acres of land. It is a green pocket surrounded by trees. The Main Building is a sprawling stately structure which brings the rich cultural heritage of the Vidyapeeth to life. The main building houses the office of the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, administrative offices, state of the art meeting hall and 15 classrooms.

Training and Placement Cell :-
The Vidyapeeth has established a full-fledged Training and Placement Cell for carrying out placement activities. The Placement Cell, under the guidance of the placement officer, undertakes the placement activities. It comprises of counselling, motivation, training, interaction with top management for final placement.
The placement cell also help students in getting industrial training, summer projects assignments and placements through its widespread contacts within the industry. Various reputed industries visit the Vidyapeeth for campus interviews.
Final year students have to pay the requisite fee (Rs. 1,000/-) for this facility. The placement facility is available only for TMV Campus students.
