The Founder of the Institution:
Prof. D. K. Karve founded an Institution in a village called “Hingne” near Pune City. The Institution was named as “Hingne Stree Shikshan Samstha”. Later, the Institution was renamed as “Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha”.

Prof. Karve founded this Institution with the objectives of uplift, emancipation and education of women who formed a major section of the socially downtrodden. Prof. Karve dedicated his whole life for this humanitarian cause with great determination and courage. For his sacrifice and dedicated social work and his contribution to the noble cause he was awarded “Bharat Ratna” the highest national award.

The Date of Establishment of the Institution:
On 14th June in the year 1896, in the village ‘Hingne’ near Pune city, Maharshi Karve started a “Home for Widows”, along with a school for Widows, so that they become educated and self-reliant. He fought throughout his life to make this happen. The “Home for Widows” was then named as ‘Hingne Stree Shikshan Samstha’ and the school was named as ‘Mahilashram High School’.

Development of the Institution:
Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha, (MKSSS), Pune has diversified branches all over Maharashtra in India and about 25,000 girl students are learning in these institutions. Over the period of last 116 years, the Institution has grown like a banyan tree and at present, it is running 60 numbers of educational and other units. These units are located at Pune, Satara, Wai, Ratnagiri, Nagpur, Kamshet etc. All these units are meant only for girls or women.

Around 25,000 girl students are learning in Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary schools and Colleges. We have established Engineering, Architecture, Management, Nursing, Fashion Technology, Vocational Training Institute, Health Center etc. These branches strive to develop women into truly performing citizens in today’s globalization era. We also have hostel facilities for students and working women and old age home for senior citizens

Interim Fees for Academic Year 2013-14
Interim Fees for the current year MBA Part-I is Rs. 1,00,000/- (As per direction of Shikshan Shulka Samiti)

Fees should be paid in Cash or Demand Draft drawn in the name of “Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management & Research for Women” payable at Pune.

Concession in fees to meritorious students who are not eligible for government scholarships.

Fee payment through installment facility may be given to deserving students with due permission of the Director.

Recognition
The Institute conducts MBA two year full time course. The Institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, DTE and Government of Maharashtra. It is affiliated to Pune University for MBA and Ph.D. in Management.

HNIMR was accreditated by National Board of Accreditation for the period 2008-2011. The reaccreditation is in process. The Institute has also been accredited with IAO accreditation. The evaluation commission of IAO has granted the Prime Membership status to the Institute and the institute is the first from prestigious Indian region to become a Prime Member.

Course Objectives
To develop competent young managers with necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to function effectively in managerial/ administrative positions in business, industry, public system and government.

Duration
Two years full time (4 Semesters)

Eligibility
1. Graduate of any faculty of a statutory University with 50% marks (Reserved category 45%) and Appeares for CMAT (Conducted by AICTE) for acadamic year 2013-14 or Appeared for CAT (conducted by IIMs) / JMET (conducted by IITs) / MAT (conducted by AIMA in February 2013) / XAT ( conducted by XLRI) / ATMA (conducted by AIMS) for acadamic year 2013-14.

2. Candiadtes securing negative or zero score in CMAT or in GMAT / CAT / JMET / MAT / ATMA / XAT / Association CET / Any other equivalent CET will not be eligible to get admission to MBA/ MMS/PGDBM/ PGDM course in the State of Maharashtra i.e. candidates with non-zero (one or more than one) score are eligible.
