The Board of Governors of the college comprises of eminent and senior Educationists / Industrialists / Scientists /Administrators drawn from Institutes of National importance /Defense R&D Labs / Industries etc.
NMIT offers wide range of academic programs comprising of Seven UG and Five PG programs in Engineering besides MBA and MCA. Six Departments of NMIT are offering doctoral programs of VTU / Mysore University.
The faculty of the Institution comprises of adequate number of PhDs with wide range of Research / Teaching / Industrial experience.
Good number of junior faculty have registered and are pursuing PhDs in the different research centers within the Institution as well in the other Institutions of eminence.
NMIT has well equipped laboratories with more than 1000 computers and other accessories, advanced softwares, library resources and high speed Internet connectivity 10Mbps (leased line - 1:1).
NMIT is one of the few Engineering colleges in Karnataka which has been granted additional seats up to 15% by AICTE exclusively for the students belonging to the categories of Foreign Nationals / PIOs / Children of Indians working in Gulf countries.
The college has an active and dynamic Training and Placement cell headed by a young and active Professor. The cell has been successful not only in attracting a large number of reputed / well known organizations for on-campus placement but also has been conducting programs to improve the background and competence of students by enhancing soft skills / analytical abilities / problem solving capabilities / attitudinal and leadership qualities.

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) is an Autonomous Institution affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), with the concurrence of VTU / Govt. of Karnataka / UGC and Accredited by AICTE, Govt. of India. NMIT is the youngest Engineering College to be conferred the prestigious Autonomous status by VTU / State of Karnataka/UGC.

Presently NMIT has given admission to large number to foreign nationals of various countries like, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Nigeria, etc., under the superannuation quota of 15% reserved for International students in all courses.
MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Having successfully launched its engineering programs in 2001, NMIT established its MBA program in 2004, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and approved by AICTE. The program became a notable success within a short span of time. Today, NMIT’S MBA program stands out amidst other MBA programs in quality of faculty, learning environment, academic life, infrastructure and placement results. What clearly distinguishes NMIT’s program from others is the quality and diligence of faculty and administration in enhancing the students’ learning experience. Starting with an intake of 40 students in 2004, the MBA program has now matured into a well-respected and well-received program with an approved intake of 120 students.We are proud of diversity in the students enrollments and faculty recruitments.
During the first year of the program, the students are exposed to basic principles of business management and core courses in Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources as well as Quantitative Techniques.
During the second year of the two year MBA program, students are offered core subjects along with courses for specialization in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Banking and insurance.
Between the third and fourth semesters, they embark on a project in their area of specialization and complete it in the fourth semester. Placement interviews commence by the end of the third semester.
Course work covers conceptual issues, case studies and assignments based on the practice of management. In order to give students an edge in placement and their careers, several value added features are incorporated in addition to VTU specified curriculum.
During the second year, students are trained in Interview and GD skills. Students are encouraged to enroll in Certification courses of NSC & BSC & other professional associations. Further training is provided in MS Excel/SPSS so as to enhance their employment opportunities. Students who intend to become entrepreneurs are also nurtured in the institute's Entrepreneurship Cell that is hosted by the Department of Management Studies.
The Department of Management Studies offers not only the MBA program, but a variety of additional programs such as Executive Development programs, Faculty Development Seminars, and Workshops on current management topics. The Department undertakes industry-sponsored research projects and consulting engagements. The Department is also actively engaged in offering industry-specialized, function-specialized and twinning programs to traditional and non-traditional students at various stages in their professional career. In addition, the Department is an approved research center by VTU for guidance of Ph.D scholars. Faculty members of the department are also recognized as research guides by Mysore University.
Apart from regular class room teaching and continuous evaluation of students, our faculty members are actively engaged in a wide-spectrum of activities ranging from students’ mentoring, administrative tasks at the Departmental, Institutional and University levels, guiding Project Works, advising students in the conduct of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, being in touch with the industry, communicating with the alumni, attending conferences, workshops, seminars, MDPs and FDPs, conducting FDPs and pursuing research with focused goals.
In-house training programs for faculty and "Research Colloqueum Series" are conducted regularly to enhance analytical skills of faculty and research scholars.
Students’ Mentoring
Ten students of Ist year and IInd year MBA each are assigned to each faculty member (mentor). Students meet their mentors periodically and discuss issues about the teaching-learning process and their life in the campus. Mentorship is mainly advisory and motivational in nature without any element of pre- judgment.
