Odisha varsity inks pact with Tibetan administration

Bhubaneswar, The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Monday said it has inked an agreement with the Tibetan administration-in-exile to work in areas of mutual interest related to education.
A memorandum of understanding was signed in New Delhi by KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta and Lobsang Sangay, prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration, the university said in a statement here.
The two organisations will work in areas of mutual interest in education, heritage, social development, livelihood and skill-building.
They also agreed to promote the India-Tibet relationship, and undertake collaborative research, capacity building, pedagogy development, training and counselling and preservation and promotion of Tibetan culture.
The KIIT will also work for educational development of the Tibetan people.
The prime minister of Tibet wished to work with KIIT after learning about its track record in the field of education and social service in eastern India.
Sangay will visit KIIT and the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) its social wing, in the near future, the statement said.
KIIT is a group of professional institutes - KIIT University and KISS - that provide free education and vocational training to more than 20,000 tribal students.
