Inter University Tennis (women) Tournament organized at MUJ

West Zone Inter-University Tennis (Women) Tournament was inaugurated by Prof C. S. Grewal, Observer (Tennis) Association of Indian Universities, and Prof. Kumkum Garg, Pro-president MUJ at Manipal University Jaipur on January 21, 2017.  In this connection the closing ceremony Prof. Sandeep Sancheti, President, MUJ, Prof. Vandana Suhag, Registrar, MUJ, Prof. C. S. Grewal, Observer (Tennis) AIU, Dr. Rina Poonia, Organizing Secretary of the tournament and Mr. Virendra Yadav, Head, HR awarded winners with medal and trophy.

Dr Rina Poonia, Organizing Secretary of the tournament informed that total 19 teams participated in the tournament from all around the west zone along with their coaches and managers. On the very first day of tournament, matches up to third round has been played. On 22 Jan. 2017, quarterfinal and semi-final matches was played amongst the teams of
Savitribai Phule University, Pune, H. N. Gujarat University, Patan, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, University of Mumbai, Manipal University Jaipur, M. H. U. S. Nashik, M. S. University of Baroda, Devi Ahilya Univ. 
Indore, R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur and Solapur University, Solapur.

Dr. Poonia reported that in Round-3 (Pre-Quarter) matches University of Rajasthan, Jaipur beat MSU Baroda by 2-0, University of Mumbai beat Manipal University Jaipur by 2-0 and  RTM University Nagpur beat M.U. Health Science (Nashik). In Quarter-final matches H.N. Gujarat University, Patan beat Savitri Bai Phule University, Pune by 2-1, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur beat Solapur University, Solapur, University of Mumbai reached to semifinals by walk over and Gujarat University, Ahmedabad beat RTM University, Nagpur by 2-0. In Semifinal match Gujarat University, Ahmedabad beat University of Mumbai by 2-0 and H.N. Gujarat University, Patan beat University of Rajasthan by 2-1. H.N. Gujarat University, Patan emerged the champion defeating Gujarat University, Ahmedabad by 2-1 in the Final match.

Prof Anthony S. Raj, Head Department of Arts, Dr Pradeep Singh Chahar, Asst. Prof. Physical Education, Dean, Director, HoD, Professors, Associate Professor, Assistant professor, non-teaching staff members and students were present in inaugural and closing ceremony of the tournament.
