UDAAN 2014 A Two Day Management Fest Exploring Excellence in Management

Department of Management studies had organized first ever Intercollegiate Management Fest UDAAN-2014 on 29th & 30th January 2014. The main objective of organizing this event was to bring the students of various Business school under one roof to explore managerial ideas. The chief guest for Inaugural function was CA Randir Gujrathi, He was accompanied by our Principal Dr S.T.Gandhe.As we all know as per Indian Traditions we begin any program with Sarawasti poojan, so did our program .Before proceeding forward for the event students of MBA-I performed a spell bounding dance performance Ganesh Vandana which just worked as an appetizer and gave a jest of what could be served as a main course .the very first event of the management fest was Business Quiz named as Business Nerds. For this event we had 14 teams & each team consisted of two members, in all we had four round & each round was an elimination round the toughness of the question increased as the round progressed. The eventual winners for this round were Sapkal Knowledge Hub & the runners up were MBA Students of NDMVP College of Engineering, Nashik. The event was successfully hosted by our first year students hosted by Ankit Joshi & Pooja Pasricha.

After this event we had break down for the Lunch & assembled in Mechanical seminar for next event. Two event were simultaneously hosted one was the Add Villa i.e Add mad show & the other Poster Competition. In Add villa participants were told to come up with their own add for a product. Eight teams participated and all the team came up with an excellent add putting lots of Imagination, creativity & enthusiasm to market their product. This event also had an elimination round and out of eight, five teams were selected for the finals. Each team were give an independent product by the coordinators & the participants were allotted a time period of 20 minutes to prepare their own add. The participants came up with an excellent innovative adds which played the role of laughing gas & made the audience go crazy. All adds were fantastic and it was very difficult for the judges to chose the winner but at the judges had to take the decision & winners for this event were students of Ashoka Business School, Nashik & Runners up Were K.K Wagh College of Engineering. The Judges for this event were Prof Sandhya Kanade & Prof Ashoo Gupta-Khan. Mean while as mentioned earlier that the two events were simultaneously going on the other event was Power of Brush i.e poster competition. The participants were given theme on spot and time allotted for them for preparing the poster was about 45 Minutes. The prospectus of the event was to enhance the creativity with sense of social belongingness. The few of the themes selected by the participants were Save Girl Child, Burden of Education, Save our Earth & Save Water. The competition took place in Department of Management Studies. After completion of poster making students had to present their posters in front of Judges Prof Amol Potgantwar & Prof. Sachin Parchorkar. The audience were mesmerized & touched by the unique combination of colors, creativity & imagination that was put down on the poster. The event winners were from the Navjeevn collage of Management for their poster on the titles Save the Earth and the runner up SIEM collage of engineering for Save the girl child poster. Coordinators for poster competition was Ms. Sayali Madane & Mr. Swapnil Varthare. With completion of poster competition we concluded our first day.

On the second day i.e. on 30th January 2014 Ms. Sayali Madane from MBA-I took over the dais & began the event by paying a tribute to Lord Ganesh by singing a Ganesh Vandana. After that she gave a brief summary about the first day events. On the second day the first event that was lined up was Young Turks coordinated by Kartik Sanghvi & Kalyani Shirore. In this competition the participants were given a budget of Rs 10 Lac & there were told to come up with innovative ideas of new business & the participants really came up with wonderful & feasible plans which would be definitely successfully implemented & could earn a handsome return. This event was the icing on the cake with excellent and spell bonding fillers for the event, by Abhijeet Roy Choudhary a first year student who has passion for dancing taught few steps to the participants in between. & also the participants made him also learn few steps of Bharatnatyaam. He was so witty in his act the whole crowd went crazy and appreciated him. The winner was announced by the judge Prof Yogesh Risodkar & the first prize went to JDC Institute of Management students having an idea of petpuja.com. & runners up were from Sapkal Knowledge Hub for Bio Gas Plant.
The last & the final event was The Hunting Point i.e Treasure Hunt. Coordinator for this event was Ms.Amrita Panda who took lot of efforts in finding the places were to hide the treasure in the campus, preparing the clues & also the questions and the dividends were finally paid for her efforts in form of maximum number of entries. For the event in all we received 40 entries. The winners for the treasure hunt were Sandip Foundation’s SIEM.

With the end of treasure hunt we finished all the events of UDAAN-2014 & it was time for Prize Distribution ceremony were in all the winners of various events were give prizes in the form cash & memento by the hands of Respected Principal Prof. (Dr) S.T. Gandhe, Dean Accademic Prof. Anil Maheshwari & Our Head of Department Prof (Dr) Rakesh Patil, to sum up UDAAN -2014 was a launch of yet an another venture of the Department of management Studies highly appreciated and adored by the students form the MBA fraternally I am sure UDAAN – 2014 has given the young managers a sense of what the game of business means.
