siliconindia | | November 20144One of the most defining moments of 2015, more so for the U.S. Indians, has been the naming of Satya Nadella as Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ:MSFT) chief executive officer, making him one of the most powerful tech executives on the planet. Indeed, in today's economy, there are currently 9 Indian-American CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, while Forbes magazine recently reported that Indians start more companies than any other immigrant group in six states around the country. Indian-Americans, who account for only about 1 percent of the U.S. population, have ascended to a disproportionately influential position in American medicine, academia, corporations and especially the high-tech sector. They have also had a major impact on startups, and most importantly, on the overall business climate in the country. Over the years, siliconindia has been chronicling the rise and glory of the Indian entrepreneur in high-tech industry. Celebrating our ninth anniversary, we are glad to present to you the seventeenth edition of si100, an annual listing of the top 100 technology companies founded and managed by Indians in the U.S. This year, as we sat down to drill down si100 companies, from over 3,000 Indian founded companies nominated, we had a glimpse of many Indian entrepreneurs who display the characteristics of long term visibility, sustained growth, business focus and customer centricity. They had the passion, enthusiasm, optimism and the sheer will to succeed in a fast-changing economy. We salute each and every one of these entrepreneurs for their leadership, and particularly for their unrelenting dedication in building their companies. Each and every entrepreneur on this list demonstrates the utmost passion for building lasting enterprises and exudes confidence that they will succeed in tackling the current economic conditions. We congratulate the 100 finalists for achieving this vote of respect from industry leaders and wish each and every one of them a great future.
