The negatives are highlighted a lot more on media, with journalists stacking numbers of positive cases and some becoming soothsayers. On the flipside, many have gone back to the drawing board and silently risen and found ways to keep their businesses and lives thriving in this new normal. While I tried to empathize with and understand the people's mentalities at the opposite poles, I found myself returning to my hometown, Bengaluru, the IT Hub of India, for a few months due to the pandemic. Much has changed, and much, unfortunately, hasn't.The other day I was watching a standup comedy show, and as many of these acts successfully do, this one too brought out a troubling issue with most Indians. Till a Sundar Pichai or a Kamala Harris made it to the top, not many spoke about them. But once they did, everyone became a distant relative of these successful people just because they were of Indian origin. In the same vein, American publications also want to paint the quintessential rags to riches story of these individuals trying to attain the American dream. So you see the problems media plays in influencing people.Magazines like SiIiconIndia, have stood the test of time because we have been bringing quality content over the years, bringing the success stories of the Indians in the US and their innovations that have gone on to change the world, even at the levels of Musk's. These men and women didn't have the quintessential rags to riches, but they did have to fight other battles, sometimes against their demons.Just like the way there are millions who survived the infectious novel coronavirus, these men and women have survived the lows to make it to the top of their industries, proving time and again that the American Dream is not impossible. As a salute to these individuals, we bring you another edition of si100, bringing you the stories of how these Indian entrepreneurs have come out on top even in these troubling times. We applaud them for their persistence and their ability to adapt to the current situation and come out stronger.
