An academician turned IT industry veteran, Dr Shirjuo Ghosh has had an 18-year old career that he would like to call “driven on passion and strong foundation”. The newly appointed Chief Operating Officer at RS Software is geared up to toil on the untapped potential that he believes the company is sitting on. “Payment has currently become a niche area that is all pervasive,” he asserts. He should hope so as the software solutions provider for electronic Payment Systems is all set to expand its business.

A doctorate in computing science from University of Alberta, Canada, Dr Ghosh began his career as Professor of Computer Science till he was lured into the IT world at Price Waterhouse Coopers as a supervisory Consultant. As part academician, Dr Ghosh has been fervently involved in partnerships between the academia and industry, something he believes that will address the future of the IT industry.

Apart from his usual responsibilities in the areas of change management, strategic IT, business process consulting, the new COO is also looking to continue to play an active role in stretching the academic ties within RS Software. “The one lesson I have gained through my professional life is to work selflessly with a set goal and not too many expectations, and the rewards will follow”, he concludes.
