Tuesday, October 1, 2013
Priyanshu Kumar Jha, an Ahmedabad lad who earned a Master's from Singapore, has been offered a $203 thousand package by Microsoft. He attended school in Shahibaug and interned at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Ahmedabad. He has secured a bachelor's degree in Information Technology from UV Patel College of Engineering, Ganpat University, Mehsana. He will be working on Microsoft's Bing search engine as development engineer. Jha will be heading to the U.S. early next month and is the youngest in the batch of students that appeared for the interview in Singapore.

Priyanshu's father, Prabhat Kumar Jha, is a zonal director (central zone) National Small Industries Corporation, ministry of medium, small & micro enterprises. Priyanshu's mother, Ranjana, is a homemaker.

As an engineering student, Jha said that he always aspired to work for Microsoft at some point in his career. But not many of us can think of landing such a lucrative job at such an early age. Being the youngest achiever in his group has always been Priyanshu's habit. He was the youngest to be chosen for the master's programme in Singapore. "I had to put in a lot of extra work to keep up with my batchmates, who had a minimum of two years of work experience," he said. "I was the only one with no work experience, but my top scores always gave me an edge over the others," Jha adds.

The engineering prodigy went through six rounds of grueling interviews with each lasting over an hour. He was finally selected over more experienced candidates.
