Some years from now, requirement of office spaces for companies will likely witness a sharp drop in demand. We have been hearing that many companies are allowing their employees to work from home. Now Cisco also has joined that league, and has revealed that out of its total 60,000 employees, about 12,000 are working from home.

To facilitate this on an industry scale, the company has launched its latest virtual office solution, Cisco Virtual Office (CVO), which intents to address needs of mid-sized and large enterprises to provide access to collaborative business applications and services to their employees working from remote areas. Cisco’s headcount in India has reached 4,000.

"The CVO enhances the benefits of remote working by providing office caliber technology wrapped in a security blanket. It allows businesses to stay agile, and in some cases it can provide an environmentally friendly alternative to commuting, while managing operational expenses at corporate sites," says Robert Berlin, Director of Product Management for Cisco.

CVO packages routing, switching, security, wireless, IP telephony, and policy control technology into a centrally managed office caliber solution that provides highly secure video, voice, data, and wireless service.
