Gopal Krishna, the newly appointed Audience Head at Yahoo India, describes himself as an open, straightforward, friendly and creatively driven person. A wide traveler, in the past ten years, he has taken almost 75 trips to various places around the world. Krishna also enjoys ballroom dancing, reading philosophy, watching movies and playing cricket.

An MBA from the Harvard Business School and an MS (Electrical Engineering) from University of Hawaii, Krishna is an entrepreneur at heart. He founded thinkIndia, a venture backed Silicon Valley new media start-up that later merged with Rediff.com. He also co-founded FlatIron Information Services with a VC firm, Pipal Research. Prior to his entrepreneurial adventures, Krishna served as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, serving clients in telecom and high-tech spaces. Also while at Schlumberger, he was one of the youngest project leaders, leading design and coding of one of the most popular software packages.

Now at Yahoo! he is responsible for increasing the number of users in India and will also take care of business development, marketing and strategy of yahoo media products. He is sure that his strengths – strategic and out of box thinking, zeal to crate impact and pursuit for excellence – will help him achieve his goals.

Krishna believes that as a leader that challenge is to make sure what not to do than what to do. His advise to young techies – ‘Cool technology becomes hot when it is able to solve real problems. Hence understand the user problems and innovate solutions.’
